Address formats in different countries
In order to ensure that the recipient receives international postal parcels in a timely and accurate manner, please understand the following common mailing knowledge: address attention, packaging attention, claims, shipping and delivery time, tracking coverage, restricted goods, customs declaration, tariffs, package importance and size restrictions, etc.
For example, some countries use pure digital postal codes, such as China, but some countries use a combination of numbers and letters, such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and other countries. In addition, some countries and regions write the house number before the street name, while others put it at the end.
To ensure that your shipment can be properly sealed and sent to the destination country, please use the address format commonly used in the destination country.
Packaging Tips
To ensure that the contents of your package are not damaged during transportation, all mailing items should be packed with durable enough materials. During transportation, mailing items may be sorted and packed by the transportation officials or opened and inspected by customs, transit transportation, etc. (repeatedly), so the packaging needs to be packaged according to the characteristics of the mailed items. To avoid damage to the mailed items or outer packaging.
Notes
Please use reinforced tape or similar carton-specific tape (width of about 50MM) to wrap the top and bottom of the box into an ‘H’ shape. Do not use ordinary household tape, as its viscosity and width do not meet the requirements of mailing packaging.
The outer packaging of the package should be reinforced paper products. If the contents are heavy, please use double-layer inner and outer box packaging.
Claims
Claims refer to claims for items lost or damaged during mailing. The basis for the claimant is mainly what kind of mailing method and situation you used. The claim clauses involve the UPU Universal Postal Union (Letter and Parcel Postal Manual) and all UPU member countries must comply with it. The general procedure for claiming is to fill out an application form first, which can be obtained at the postal counter where you send the mail.
Notes
When mailing items and choosing logistics methods or making claims, please keep the receipt at the time of delivery, because this is an important basis for registering and processing claims later. Normally, you can apply for compensation if the mail has not been delivered successfully for more than one month after it was sent to the post office. The claim form needs to be completed and signed. The post office will generally respond to the investigation and make compensation obligations within six months after receiving it.
Shipping and delivery time
The tracking ability depends on whether the official website of the transporter provides it. 17TRACK cannot affect the transportation time or participate in the delivery service. According to our experience, most international registered parcels take 2-4 weeks (the time depends on whether the recipient's address is remote, the country's logistics industry is developed, etc.). The transportation time of EMS express delivery is about 1-3 weeks. Regarding the issue of transportation time, it is highly dependent on the customs operation process after the parcel arrives at the destination country and the local delivery efficiency. You can refer to our time statistics function.
Tracking coverage
We already support postal parcel tracking in about 170 countries around the world, as well as dozens of world-renowned international express delivery companies and several Chinese e-commerce logistics operators. Please check the list of countries that this site supports tracking.
Restricted goods
Some items cannot be transported by postal operators due to legal/health/safety factors. If you are unable to confirm that the items you need to mail are prohibited items, please check with the post office or its agent to avoid the items being detained/destroyed or returned.
Customs declaration
If the items you are mailing are going abroad, you will need to fill out a CN22 customs declaration form. This is mandatory and each package needs to be affixed with a CN22 customs declaration form. For international registered parcels, most 17track.net users declare the item name as "gift" or "sample" to avoid tariffs. Other E-mail and EMS declarations also require customs declaration labels. At present, in China, the postal service has fully implemented integrated waybills. For more logistics information, please contact the logistics operator for communication.
Tariffs
When you are waiting to receive an international package, if tariffs are required, you will receive a notice from the customs with the tax details of your package. After receiving the notice, please go to the post office to pay taxes or assist in customs clearance according to the instructions of the notice. Tariff issues are very complicated. Each country has taxation terms and customs policies. In recent years, countries with new customs policies and regulations such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile and other South American markets have now reduced customer orders due to tariffs. Therefore, the sender should communicate more with the recipient about tariffs to avoid the recipient's unwillingness to sign or abandon the package after the package arrives at the destination due to excessive tariffs, causing certain losses to the sender.
Package weight and size restrictions
For weight and packaging size restrictions, please confirm with the postal official or its logistics agent before shipment. The weight and size will comply with the Universal Postal Union standards and the weight restrictions of special countries to ensure that the goods arrive safely and accurately at the recipient.
Most of our users use the following three postal delivery methods:
Registered small parcel (weight limit less than 2 kg)
Postal large parcel (weight generally more than 2 kg)
EMS postal express mail and other commercial couriers
